The Fibonacci Association mourns the passing of Florian Luca, one of the world’s most prolific mathematicians, and a member of the Fibonacci Association’s Board of Directors.
Florian Luca was a force in many disciplines, writing over 800 papers with more than 300 people. Anyone who was fortunate to have their orbit cross his will remember great questions he would ask at talks, leading to new projects, or wonderful excursions in cities around the world. The Fibonacci Quarterly will have a special issue in his honor; we will post later how one may submit to that (or feel free to email sjm1@williams.edu). The Fibonacci Quarterly, the journal of the Fibonacci Association, provides a focus for worldwide interest in the Fibonacci numbers and related mathematics. We publish research papers on integer sequences and relevant applications in science (e.g., Mathematical Biology), as well as mathematical outreach articles on fun and accessible topics aimed at engaging the public in Fibonacci-related mathematics.
We invite contributions from all readers to the problems sections, on topics from high school to advanced undergraduate. The Fibonacci Quarterly seeks to involve researchers, enthusiasts, students and teachers of all ages through exploration and exchange of ideas.
